We will be spending the day hiking and sightseeing within Yosemite National Park. Yosemite is steeped in history, being the former home of some of America’s foremost conservationists including John Muir and Ansel Adams and is one of America’s first National Parks. On this outing, we’ll visit the impressive groves of Giant Sequoia Trees. The Big Trees are the largest living things on earth, as measured by volume, and never disappoint whether you are seeing them for the first time or the 100th time. Plan on seeing the 1800-year old Grizzly Giant, one of the largest trees in the park and certainly the most famous. We offer a variety of hiking options to any of Yosemite’s iconic destinations, all catered to your personal interests and abilities.

Explore Custom Trip Options
Your guide will meet you in the morning at the Mariposa Grove Welcome Plaza, located just inside the South Entrance of the Park. From here, you’ll spend the day exploring the largest sequoia grove in Yosemite, home to 500 mature giant sequoias. You’ll learn about the ecology of the trees as you wander through the incredible, looming forest of Sequoias. You’ll visit the Grizzly Giant, Yosemite’s largest Sequoia Tree, along with other famous sequoias. Some of the highlights of the day may include:
- Big Trees Loop Trail, winds through a forest with many giant sequoias, this trail features the Fallen Monarch and interpretive panels on the life and ecology of giant sequoias
- Grizzly Giant Loop Trail hikes past notable trees such as the Bachelor and Three Graces, the 3,000-year-old Grizzly Giant, and California Tunnel Tree
- Mileage ranges from 1-7+ miles total for the day

A Few More Notes
What to Bring
Plan to bring the following items in a small daypack for your guided hike:
- 2-3 Liters of water per person
- Lunch & snacks for the day
- A warm layer and/or rainshell
- Hat
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Camera (optional)
Wear comfortable and moisture wicking clothing (especially for the warm summer months of July-August). Comfortable hiking/running shoes that are with grippy soles are the best option for footwear. Travel & Logisitics
Your trip begins at the Mariposa Grove Welcome Plaza, where you’ll meet your guide. You will need your own vehicle or transportation for this day, plan for extra time to get to your destination and find parking. Traffic can be heavy in Yosemite National Park during the peak months of summer. There is a large parking area, as well as bathrooms. Directions will be sent to you upon registration.
